The Miracle of Christ’s Birth: A Message of Hope
At United Baptist Church, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of God’s promise to bring salvation to the world. The story of Jesus’ birth, as told in the Gospels is one of divine love, humility, and redemption.
A Promise Fulfilled
Over 700 years before Christ’s birth, the prophet Isaiah foretold the coming of the Savior:
“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)
This prophecy was fulfilled in Bethlehem when Mary, a young virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit and gave birth to Jesus. Joseph, her betrothed, obediently followed God’s guidance and took Mary as his wife, raising Jesus as his own son.
Born in Humility, Destined for Glory
Although rightly the heir to the throne of Israel, Jesus was not born in a palace, but in a humble home in Bethlehem. His humble birth reminds us that God’s kingdom is not built on earthly power but on love and grace. The angel announced His birth to shepherds—ordinary, hard working people—showing that Christ came for all, regardless of status or background.
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11)
A Light for All Nations
The wise men from the East traveled far, following the star that led them to Jesus. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh—symbols of Christ’s kingship, divinity, and sacrifice. Their journey illustrates that Jesus came not just for Israel but for the whole world.
The True Meaning of Christmas
Jesus’ birth is celebrated around the world as the most pivotal event in human history. I encourage you to see this event as more than just a historical event—it is a call to faith. God sent His Son to bring peace to a broken world, to reconcile humanity to Himself, and to offer eternal life through His sacrifice. On Christmas, it is normal to give gifts to loved ones but Jesus is the greatest gift of all. He is Emmanuel—God with us.
